Memorial Day 2008

National Moment of Rememberance

The National Moment of Remembrance, established by Congress, asks Americans wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day to pause in an act of national unity (duration: one minute).The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. The Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events; rather it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, alone or with family and friends, honor those who died for our freedom. It will help to reclaim Memorial Day as the sacred and noble holiday it was meant to be. In this shared remembrance, we connect as Americans.

Game 2 of Baseball Season

Today was Seth's second game of the baseball season and it is really neat to see all the kids improve. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Seth has a good coach and he is making progress with them.

In today's game, in Seth's first at bat he had a foul tip before he got a hit off the tee. But, in his second at bat he actually got a hit off the coach.

It was very exciting.

I survived a visit from the ATF

I have a little business and by its nature, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) has regulation responsibilities.

Well, today I had a scheduled visit from one of their agents and I have to admit I was a little nervous. It's not everyday you have a Federal agent in your home going through your business. Plus, if you have heard some of the horror stories out there regarding the ATF and some of their practices, you know anything can happen.

Well, the agent was quite friendly and professional and his visit/inspection only took 30 minutes and I think I came out of it with flying colors.

Whew, I'm glad it is over though.

Samson

This weekend our Pastor spoke about Samson and then last night I was watching T.D. Jakes and he was also talking about Samson and they were very similar messages.

What I took away is that you first have to go down before you go up and that when you are "going through" your "go through" God is building your strength so when Satan comes back and tries to take you back through your "go through" you will be stronger.

I realy feel I am going through my "go through" and I hope I am getting stronger.

Looking Handsome

Yesterday Seth had a piano recital so we bought him a new pair of pants, shirt, shoes and a tie. We told him he looked handsome.

This morning as we are getting ready for church he said he wanted to wear his tie and look handsome. So, he and Chase went to church wearing their ties while I was in my jeans. I am starting to question their paternity because I only wear a tie when I absolutely have to. But, they did look handsome...

Wild and Crazy Guy

If you ask anyone that knows me to describe me, I doubt the first descriptor out of their mouth would be a "wild and crazy guy". Well, that might change in the near future. More to come...

Baseball Season has started

Seth's baseball season has started and he had his first practice tonight. He has moved up to coach pitch but if they don't hit it after 3 pitches they get to hit it off the tee.

Tonight's practice was good and he has a very good coach. He is actually teaching them fundamentals and I feel at the end of the season they will have a much better understanding of baseball.

I'm excited about the season. I also got a schedule for the Air Hogs so we might have to go check out one of their games. (If you check out their website, those that know me will be able to see exactly where I would have picked up a schedule).

I'm Tired

I am really tired. This was a very busy weekend.

It started Friday night by going to our favorite Mexican restaurant followed by taking the boys to see a theatrical production of Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

Saturday started with breakfast with men from my church home team and continuation of our study of 1 Timothy. Then the family and I drove to Oklahoma where we stopped and toured a facility that we are thinking about opening up our business in.

Then we spent the next 6 hours at a family Reunion where we all played hard. I was 0 - 3 in volleyball games. We then went to the other side of the family and were up until almost midnight visiting.

Today started off with a little Mother's Day celebration followed by Sunday school, church and then back home for a little more family time. We then got in the car and made the 2 hour drive back home and now here I sit. I'm tired.

Mental Health Day

I took the day off from work today for a mental health day. I'm sure Shelley will tell you I really needed it.

Kindergarten Kick Off

This week was Kindergarten Kick Off for Seth. This was when Seth registered for kindergarten. It is hard to believe I am going to have a kindergartener.

Smoking in the Boy's Room

I get to work pretty early and I am usually the only one in the office initially. But, the way our office is constructed it is hard to know who is there and who isn't. Well, somebody has started getting there early as well and for some reason they have a need to smoke in the men's room every morning.

I don't know if they think no one can tell but we can. It smells discusting in there and I haven't been able to figure out who it is. I'm thinking about leaving them a note or something just to let them know I'm looking for them.

Light Blogging

My blogging has been light lately and I think it is because my laptop battery won't hold a charge. I can't use my laptop unless it is plugged in so being "tethered" all the time has cramped my creative juices.

New laptop battery is on its way so I should be back to normal in a few days.
