Shelley and I volunteer each month in the pre-school area at our church. We watch a group of 3 year olds while their parent's attend the 6:30 service on Saturdays. This offers many challenges but also some awesome rewards. One of my favorites is when a parent drops off a child who obviously doesn't want to be there and we are able to calm the child and they end up having a wonderful time. The parent will then come to pick them up and they will always ask, "How'd she/he do?" and when you tell them "Great!", there is a noticeable show of relief on their faces.
Also, during this time we always teach a bible lesson. Last night we talked about how Moses led the people and God pushed back the water so they could cross the sea. We played follow the leader to demonstrate Moses leading the people and then did a pushing motion with our arms to demonstrate God pushing back the water. Truthfully, Shelley and I didn't think anyone was paying attention to us but we forged on.
Then today Seth picked up the coloring sheet we were using to tell the story and pointed to the man and said "Moses" and then he started doing the pushing motion with his hands.
He was paying attention! Maybe the others were to...
