A recent amendment to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide credit reporting agencies to provide you a free credit report to you once every twelve months. They have been phasing this in across the country and today people in Texas as well as ten other southern states became eligible. The only remaining states are in the northeast and they will be eligible September 1. For more information on this you can go to the FTC website at link. You can also go AnnualCreditReport.Com to find out when your state is eligible and the procedures for getting your report.
I highly recommend everyone getting a copy of his or her credit report and reviewing it at least once a year.
